Kristi Carter Weil
Therapist & Instructor
Kristi Carter Weil is a Licensed Master Social Worker (TX 103804) and retired police officer, now working as a therapist and instructor. She is trained in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), which she uses to empower groups and individuals to heal past and present traumas and improve their mental health. During her time as an officer, Kristi earned her Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Master Peace Officer Certification, TCOLE Instructor Certification, and Mental Health Peace Officer Certification. For 12 years, Kristi developed the TCOLE Mental Health Peace Officer and Crisis Intervention Training curricula, and instructed officers and recruits on best practices for serving citizens in mental health crisis. Kristi was the police department’s first Mental Health Response Officer assigned to serve with a co-responding mental health professional, and also served on the Peer Support Team. Through her personal experience with critical incidents and secondary trauma exposure during her 20-year career as a police officer, Kristi was inspired to launch a second career as a social worker to serve her community in a new capacity. Kristi earned her B.S. at Texas Christian University and her M.S.W. at the University of Texas at Arlington. Kristi specializes in working with trauma survivors, LGBTQ+ folx, people struggling with addiction, as well as first responders, and their spouses. Kristi met her husband Clint on patrol over 20 years ago and has been a first responder spouse since 2004. They have 2 kids, 2 cats, and 4 dogs that keep them on the go. Kristi also enjoys reading, crochet, and listening to podcasts. She also serves her community by volunteering with PTA and Booster Club. A Message from Kristi Life can be hard. Sometimes it feels like you’re getting sucked into a black hole. Maybe it’s depression, anxiety, PTSD or past traumas, grief, current relationships, substance use, addiction, or life piling one thing on top of another—whatever it is, you’re looking for a change. And you deserve it! You are worthy of peace, love, and healing just as you are! I would love to help you figure out your goals and how we can work together to meet them. I believe that therapy should be based on your needs and the strengths you already possess. My goal is for you to achieve the life that YOU want. I offer a client-centered, strengths-based approach to therapy. I am EMDR & CPT trained and offer a variety of therapies that are trauma-informed. I am a retired first responder and LGBTQ+ affirming. When life seems overwhelming, it can feel vulnerable to reach out for help—to take the first steps toward change. You will find no judgment with me, only a safe place to talk and figure out the next steps toward the life you want. Supervision Kristi is supervised by Kiva Harper, LCSW-S.
